Baseline household survey—training and implementation

NTFP in collaboration with FFI, conducted the training for 14 young indigenous people and 4 of them were identified as women. They were recruited to be Community Facilitators and trained about using Kobo Toolbook and collecting data through survey questions in this system. The training was held twice in January and February 2023 at Kok Lak and Taveng Leu Training Centers.

After the training, Community Facilitators conducted the interview with community households to collect the data, and they also gave feedback for improving questions and discovering challenges that can affect the main data collection process.

It was a successful experience and good opportunity to engage young indigenous people in the Kobo survey. They were able to conduct interviews on their own, and this survey helped them to better understand about the livelihood and conservation management in Virachey National Park through their discussions with selected community households.

As a result, the survey was conducted in two districts, including Versai and Tavang Leu with the total of 250 samples of community households. Recently, we are compiling data for a summary report of basic social-economic information.
